Northern Journal goes multi-platform
Introducing the Northern Journal podcast.
If you haven’t noticed, Northern Journal is a one-person operation: I am the publisher, reporter, accountant and office janitor.
Which means, tragically, that I don’t have time to tackle all the stories on my story list — especially the ones that are complicated or multi-faceted.
Fortuitously, however, the internet developed a partial solution to this problem about two decades ago: It’s called a podcast. And after some planning and consideration, I’ve launched one of my own.
You can find the show under its very creative title, Northern Journal, on Spotify, Apple Podcasts and Transistor. Its focus is the same as the Northern Journal newsletter and website: environment, natural resources, energy and fisheries. I also hope to do some episodes on other topics, like culture and media, and I’d love your suggestions for subjects and guests.
The first four episodes — two on Yukon River salmon declines, one on the Eklutna River saga, and one on how Alaska’s energy system can shift toward renewable power — are now posted.
If you like the show, and you want to support it, you can rate it on whatever platform you use to listen, as well as share it. The best thing you can do to help is to buy a paid subscription to this newsletter; if you already have one, you can buy another as a gift for a friend or family member.
