OUR STORY
WHO WE ARE
We’re back for a second act. Originally started in 1992, the Anchorage Press served as Southcentral Alaska's voice of alternative culture, biting commentary, local food criticism, music discovery, and unvarnished journalism for over three decades. Shuttered in 2022 by Arizona-based owners, Wick Communications, the Press ceased publication and laid off the publication’s staff.
But sometimes we get a second chance at a good thing. In June 2026, we formed Anchorage Press LLC. Right now, that’s owned by Nat Herz (Executive Editor) and Veri di Suvero (Publisher/CEO), with Noisy Creek coming in as a minority owner.
The Anchorage Press is acquiring Northern Journal, the journalism platform created by Nat. We’re merging Northern Journal’s rigorous accountability reporting on land, water, oil and gas, fisheries, and the state Legislature with the vibrant, irreverent spirit of a true community alt-weekly.
The Anchorage Press is set to re-print its first issue in September, 2026.
